Inherited from Sanskrit किंचिद् (kiṃcid, “anything”); ultimately from Proto-Indo-European *kʷím + *kʷíd (synchronically analyzable as किम् (kim) + चिद् (cid), where the latter marks the pronoun as indefinite). The -ch- reflects -śc- in Sanskrit कश्चित् (kaścit, “anyone”) (whence কেউ (keu)), of which किंचिद् (kiṃcid) is the neuter singular.
