Etymology

Inherited from Early Assamese ওঠ (öṭho), from Magadhi Prakrit *𑀑𑀝𑁆𑀞 (*oṭṭha), from Sanskrit ওষ্ঠ (oṣṭha), from Proto-Indo-Aryan *HáwHṣṭʰas, from Proto-Indo-Iranian *HáwHštʰas, from Proto-Indo-European *h₃éh₁os (mouth). Cognate with Kamta ওঠ (üth), Hindi होंठ (hoṇṭh).
