Inherited from Old Marathi 𑘭𑘻𑘮𑘩𑘰 (sohalā), 𑘭𑘻𑘮𑘯𑘰 (sohaḷā). Compare Hindi सुहेला (suhelā), Braj सुहेलौ (suhelau, “agreeable (season, time); auspicious”), Old Punjabi ਸੁਹੀਆ (suhīā, “prostration, greeting”), Assamese শুবলা (xubola, “pleasing to the ear; elegant”).
