Etymology
From Proto-Indo-Iranian *ćráwas, from Proto-Indo-European *ḱléwos (“fame, glory”). Cognate with Avestan 𐬯𐬭𐬀𐬎𐬎𐬀𐬢𐬵 (srauuaŋh, “word”), Ancient Greek κλέος (kléos, “fame”), Russian сло́во (slóvo).
