Inherited from Old Marathi 𑘨𑘳𑘩𑘜𑘹 (rulaṇe), 𑘨𑘳𑘯𑘜𑘹 (ruḷaṇe), from Maharastri Prakrit 𑀭𑀼𑀮𑀇 (rulaï). Compare Gujarati રોળવું (roḷvũ), Sindhi رُلَڻُ / रुलणु, Punjabi ਰੋਲਣਾ (rolṇā) / رولݨا (rōlṇā).[1]
