Borrowed from Classical Persian تعلقه (taʻalluqa), from Arabic تَعَلُّقَة (taʕalluqa). Compare Gujarati તાલુકો (tāluko), Kannada ತಾಲ್ಲೂಕು (tāllūku), Hindustani تَعَلُّقَہ / ताल्लुक़ा (tālluqā), Sindhi تَعَلقو, Malayalam താലൂക്ക് (tālūkkŭ).
