Inherited from Maharastri Prakrit 𑀢𑀟𑀧𑁆𑀨𑀟𑀇 (taḍapphaḍaï), 𑀢𑀟𑀨𑀟𑀇 (taḍaphaḍaï). Related to तळपणे (taḷapṇe). Compare Hindustani تَڑَپْنَا / तड़पना (taṛapnā), Sindhi تَڙْڦَڻُ / तड़फणु, Punjabi ਤੜਫੜਾਉਣਾ (taṛphaṛāuṇā) / تَڑپھڑاؤݨا (taṛphaṛāauṇā), ਤੜਫਾਉਣਾ (taṛphāuṇā) / تَڑپھاؤݨا (taṛphāauṇā), ਤੜਫਣਾ (taṛphaṇā) / تَڑپھݨا (taṛphaṇā).[1]
