Etymology
From Proto-Indo-European *kʷetwr̥-th₂ó-s (“fourth”) from *kʷetwóres (“four”). Cognate with Ancient Greek τέτᾰρτος (tétartos), Proto-Germanic *fedurþô (whence English fourth), Latin quārtus, Old East Slavic четвьртъ (četvĭrtŭ).
