Inherited from Sauraseni Prakrit, from Sanskrit कश्चित् (káścit). Likely also influenced by Sanskrit कोऽपि (kó’pi), from कः (kaḥ) + अपि (api). Cognate to Awadhi कोई (koī), Braj कोऊ (koū), Punjabi ਕੋਈ (koī), Gujarati કોઈ (koī), Marathi कुणी (kuṇī), Bengali কেউ (keu), Bhojpuri केऊ (kēū), Assamese কেও (keü).
