Inherited from Old Marathi 𑘄𑘦𑘘𑘜𑘹 (umaṭaṇe), 𑘄𑘦𑘚𑘜𑘹 (umaḍaṇe), 𑘪𑘦𑘞𑘜𑘹 (vamathaṇe), ultimately from Sanskrit उन्मृष्ट (únmṛṣṭa) (compare Maharastri Prakrit 𑀉𑀫𑁆𑀫𑀼𑀝𑁆𑀣 (ummuṭtha)).[1] Compare Gujarati ઊમટવું (ūmaṭvũ).
