Inherited from Ashokan Prakrit *𑀅𑀮𑁆𑀮𑀟 (*allaḍa).[1] Compare Gujarati અલ્લડ (allaḍ), Hindustani اَلْہَڑ / अल्हड़ (alhaṛ), Sindhi الڙُ / अलड़ु, Punjabi ਅੱਲ੍ਹੜ (allhaṛ) / الّھَڑ (allhaṛ), Nepali अल्लड (allaḍ), अल्लढ (allaḍh).
