Etymology 2
From Ancient Greek κόμμι (kómmi), from Egyptian qmy (“anointing oil”), qmyt (“acanthus resin, gum”), or this form is directly borrowed from Egyptian into Aramaic and but the alternative forms reflect Greek oblique forms.
