- In Western Syriac dialects written in West Syriac Serṭā, ܝܫܘܥ is vocalized as ܝܶܫܽܘܥ (Yešūʿ), close to the Biblical Hebrew/Aramaic root form יֵשׁוּעַ (Yešūa). Eastern dialects written in East Syriac Maḏnḥāyā use the distinct alternate vocalization ܝܼܫܘܿܥ (Išōʿ).
