From Sanskrit *गन्धपूरिका (gandhapūrikā), from गन्ध (gandha, “scent, fragrance”) + पूर (pūra, “full”) + Middle Indo-Aryan -𑀇𑀓𑀸- (-ikā-). Cognate with Kalasha [script needed] (gambhūri).
