يعضيد
Arabic
Alternative forms
- عَضِيد (ʿaḍīd)
Etymology
Of a rare pattern yaKLīM – else found only in يَقْطِين (yaqṭīn, “a kind of squash or gourd”) and يَعْقِيد (yaʿqīd, “thickened honey”) – but connected to the root ع ض د (ʿ-ḍ-d), so perhaps from a Semitic substrate.
