Etymology
From Middle Iranian; probably ultimately from Proto-Indo-European *solwo- (“sallow”). Akin to arabicized Persian هلبج (halbaj) and Mazanderani هلوه (halve, “sheep's colostrum yoghurt”), a Persian loanword.
