وفيه حضرت أيضا عساكر كثيرة من هبود الأتراك والارنؤد فأحضروا مشايخ الحارات وأمروهم باخلاء البيوت لسكناهم فأزعجوا الكثير من الناس وأخرجوهم من دورهم بالقهر فحصل للناس غاية الضرر وضاق الحال بالناس وكلما سكنت منهم طائفة بدار أخربوها وأحرقوا أخشابها وطيقانها وأبوابها وانتقلوا إلى غيرها فيفعلون بها كذلك ومن تكلم أو دافع عن داره وبخ بالكلام وقيل له عجب كنتم تسكنون الفرنسيس وتخلون لهم الدور وأمثال ذلك من الكلام القبيح الذي لا أصل له ولما شرعوا في تشهيل التجريدة حصلت منهم أمور وأذية في الناس كثيرة فمنها أنهم طلبوا الحمارة المكارية وأمروهم باحضار ستمائة حمار وشددوا عليهم في ذلك فقيل أنهم لما جمعوها أعطوهم أثمانها في كل حمار خمسة ريالات بعدته ولجامه مع أن فيها ما قيمته خمسون ريالا خلاف عدته ثم ما كفاهم ذلك بل صاروا يخطفون حمير الناس من أولاد البلد بالقهر وكذلك حمير السقائين التي تنقل الماء من الخليج حتى امتنعت السقاؤن بالكلية وبلغ ثمن القربة الكتافي من الخليج عشرة انصاف فضة وتعدى بالخطف أيضا من ليس بمسافر فكانوا ينزلون الناس من على حميرهم ويذهبون بها إلى الساحة ويبيعونها والبعض تبعهم واشترى حماره بالثمن فخبى جميع الناس حميرهم في داخل الدور فكان يأتي الجماعة من العسكر وينصتون بآذانهم على باب الدار ويتبعون نهيق الحمير وبعض شياطينهم يقف على الدار ويقول زر ويكررها فينهق الحمار فيعلمون به ويطلبونه من البيت فأما أخذوه أو افتداه صاحبه ببما ارادوه وغير ذلك.- (please add an English translation of this quote)
