Etymology
Derived from the active participle of أَرَاحَ (ʾarāḥa, “to let rest, to soothe”) and أَرْوَحَ (ʾarwaḥa, “to stink”), from the root ر و ح (r-w-ḥ); compare رَاحَة (rāḥa, “rest, comfort”) and رِيحَة (rīḥa, “smell”).
