Etymology

Dual of مرحبا‎ (marḥaba), from Arabic مَرْحَبًا‎ (marḥaban), so as to “double” the good wishes received; hence at first used only as a response to the singular form. Compare the same in أهلا‎ (ʔahlan), أهلين‎ (ʔahlēn).
