hajawta muḥammadan faʾajabtu ʿanhu waʿinda l-lahi fī ḏāka l-jazāʾu
hajawta muḥammadan barran taqiyyan rasūla l-lahi šīmatuhu l-wafāʾu
faʾinna ʾabī wawālidahu waʿirḍī liʿirḍi muḥammadin minkum wiqāʾu
ṯakiltu bunayyatī ʾin lam tarawhā tuṯīru n-naqʿa min kanafay kadāʾi
yubārīna l-ʾaʿinnata muṣʿidātin ʿalā ʾaktāfihā l-ʾasalu ẓ-ẓimāʾu
taẓallu jiyādunā mutamaṭṭirātin tulaṭṭimuhunna bi-l-ḵumuri n-nisāʾu - Thus said Hassān,
"You railed against Muḥammad. I struck back for him. With God, and God alone, is my reward:
You railed against the dutiful and pious—him, the Prophet, whose great mark is faithfulness.
My father and my father's father and my name, they are, for him, a shield from you!
So may I lose my little one if you do not see them kicking up dust about Kadāʾ!
Outracing straps and reins, charging onward, on their backs are thirsting spearheads and tips and blades!
Our troops—they shall stream through, and your women with their scarves and veils shall scuttle to flap them back!
