Etymology

There are no inherited formations or cognates in other Semitic languages, all is denominal from طَوْق (ṭawq, ring, hoop, collar); and here, the uncommon form I is derived from the more developed form II, the form I sense “to be capable of or be able to sustain” developed from the form II sense ”to put around the neck, to make bear”.
