From Middle Persian [Book Pahlavi needed] (spwhtn', spwc- /spōxtan, spōz-/, “to thrust; to overstep, disobey; to delay, reject”). Compare Old Armenian սպուժեմ (spužem), an Iranian borrowing.

     toxm-e mehnat bepâš dar gelešân / xanjar-e kin sepuz dar delešân

     Sow their lives with seeds of misery! / Penetrate the dagger of grudge in their hearts!

2. (archaic) to sodomize

     čo bâšad molk-e iran mahšar-e xar / xar-e nar misepuzad bar xar-e nar

     As long as Iran is the dominion of donkeys (metaphor: pederasts) / the male donkey sodomizes the male donkey!
