Etymology
Literally: “age of despair”. Perhaps after Quran 65:4, where it says: وَاللّائِي يَئِسْنَ مِنَ الْمَحِيضِ مِن نِسَائِكُمْ (wa-llāʾī yaʾisna mina l-maḥīḍi min nisāʾikum, “those of your women who have despaired of menstruation”, i.e. “those who will certainly not menstruate again”).(Can this(+) etymology be sourced?)
