Presumably a derivation from دَرْب (darb, “pass”).

- an elevated area in front of buildings to sit
- 2008 February 17, “حكايات رمضان "أيام زمان"..”, in eSyria:
- «هيا بنا لنجلس على "الدرابة" ونتكلم». و"الدرّابة": هي مكان مرتفع في ساحة القرية مخصص للجلوس
- “Come to us to sit on the darrāba and talk!” And the darrāba is an elevated place on the village square destined for sitting.
