Etymology
Derived from Classical Syriac ܚܪ̈ܘܥܐ (ḥarrūʿā, “yellow”) as the male flowers are yellow; compare also ܚܪܝܥܐ (ḥrīˁā, “safflower”) and ܚܪܐ (ḥrāˁ, “a plant name, especially those with yellow flowers”).
