Etymology
Uncertain; possibly borrowed from Iranian, compare Classical Persian ژاژ (žāž, “ziziphora; wild thyme”), Kurdish jaj (“an edible herb, caraway”).[1] Note also Armenian ժաժիկ (žažik, “a cheese-like substance”).
