Borrowed from Classical Syriac *ܒܳܨܘܿܪܴܐ (bāṣōrā, “sore, ulcer”), compare Classical Syriac ܒܣܪܐ (*busrā, “unripe grape”), Jewish Babylonian Aramaic בֻּסְרָא (busrā), בּוּסְרָא (busrā, “unripe grape”), Hebrew בֹּסֶר (boṣer, “unripe grape”), and for the formation نَاسُور (nāsūr, “fistula”). Doublet of بُسْر (busr, “unripe dates”).
