Originally חג הסוכות \\ חַג הַסֻכּוֹת (khág hasukót, literally “Festival of Booths”), from חַג (khág) + סוכה \\ סֻכָּה (suká, “booth”), after the huts lived in during the holiday, or after the ancient huts the modern ones commemorate.
