Etymology
From נָצְרַת (nats'rat, “Nazareth”) + ־ִי (-í), the city of Jesus' origin, and thus the Hebrew term to identify Christians. Compare Classical Syriac ܢܵܨܪܵܝܵܐ (nāṣrāyā) and Arabic نَصْرَانِيّ (naṣrāniyy).
