1. Third-person masculine singular vav-consecutive imperfect (hence past tense) of הִסְתִּיר‎ (histír).
   • Exodus 3:6, with translation of the King James Version:

     וַיַּסְתֵּר מֹשֶׁה פָּנָיו כִּי יָרֵא מֵהַבִּיט אֶל הָאֱלֹהִים

     vayastér moshé panáv ki yaré mehabít el haelohím

     And Moses hid his face; for he was afraid to look upon God.

   • 1 Samuel 20:24, with translation of the King James Version:

     וַיִּסָּתֵר דָּוִד בַּשָּׂדֶה

     vayisatér davíd basadé

     So David hid himself in the field
