Etymology
Uncertain. Traditionally compared with Ancient Greek ἐρευνάω (ereunáō, “to seek, to search for”) and ἐρεείνω (ereeínō, “to interrogate”), but there are phonetic difficulties. Alternatively, may be prefixed with *pro-.
