From Proto-Indo-European *-tor, the primary third-person singular middle ending.
Suffix
-յր • (-yr)
- third-person singular imperfect ending of verbs
- որսայր ― orsayr ― he was hunting
- գրէր ― grēr ― he was writing
- հայէր ― hayēr ― he was looking
- արգելոյր ― argeloyr ― he was hindering
Usage notes
When preceded by -ե- (-e-), the ending was -էր (-ēr) through the regular եյ (ey) → է (ē) change.
