Etymology
The older form is արջասպն (arǰaspn)․ Contains արջն (arǰn, “black”).[1] According to Martirosyan, the second part contains the Iranian word for "iron": compare Sogdian 𐼰𐼼𐼾𐼻𐼷𐼻𐼷 (ʾspnyny /(ə)spanēnē/, “of iron”), Ossetian ӕфсӕн (æfsæn, “ploughshare; iron”), Central Kurdish ئاسْن (asin), Persian آهن (âhan, “iron”).[2]
