单词 ագանիմ
释义

ագանիմ

Old Armenian

Etymology 1

From Proto-Indo-European *h₂ew-e/o-, from *h₂ew- (to put on (shoes, clothes)), + -ան- (-an-).[1] The initial հ- (h-), found in the later form հագանիմ (haganim) and dialectal հագնել (hagnel), is old and probably has an etymological value. Cognates include Latin ex-uō (undress, take off), ind-uō (put on, clothe), Avestan 𐬀𐬊𐬚𐬭𐬀 (aoθra, shoe), Lithuanian aũti (to take off shoes), Russian обу́ть (obútʹ). See also առագաստ (aṙagast), օդ (ōd), օթոց (ōtʿocʿ).
