From *umtul- (“to reach out; to aspire”), from Proto-Turkic *um- (“to hope for”)[1].
Cognate with Tatar омтылырга (omtılırga), Kazakh ұмтылу (umtılw), Kyrgyz умтулуу (umtuluu), Uzbek intilmoq (“to strive”), Uyghur ئىنتىلمەك (intilmek)/интилмақ (intilmaq, “to strive, aspire”).
