Cognate with Saterland Frisian begreeuwe (“to bury”), West Frisian begrave (“to bury”), Dutch begraven (“to bury”), German begraben (“to bury”), Danish begrave (“to bury”), Swedish begrava (“to bury”), Gothic 𐌱𐌹𐌲𐍂𐌰𐌱𐌰𐌽 (bigraban, “to dig around”).
