Etymology
From тхьэ (tḥă, “God”) + бытырбыф (bətərbəf, “Petersburg”). Literally means “may God send you to Petersburg”. Petersburg is a city in Russia. The Circassians used this because Petersburg was far away from Caucasus and very cold. The meaning of this word is that may God send you to a place far away (Petersburg) that you may never return.
