Bedaf
Dutch
Etymology
First attested as baddaf and badaf in 1372. Etymology unknown. A proposed derivation from Middle Dutch bet af (“backwards, further back”) does not match causes phonological difficulties. See also Groot-Bedaf and Klein-Bedaf.
