Etymology
Proto-Turkic *tạnu- (“to know, get to know”)[1].
Cognate with Kazakh тану (tanw),Kumyk танымакъ (tanımaq),Kyrgyz тааны- (taanı-),Southern Altai таны- (tanï-),Uzbek tanimoq,East Kewa таны-,Tuvan таны- (tanı-),Turkish tanımak (“know somebody, recognize”).
