Etymology
From beamen (“to beam; to project”) + -er; the former from English beam (“to transmit matter or information via a high-tech wireless mechanism”). Inasmuch as the English verb does not share the figurative sense “to project”, the German is a pseudo-anglicism. Compare the same in Dutch beamer (“video projector”).
