Etymology
Derived via Western European languages from Attic Greek πολύγλωττος (polúglōttos, “many-tongued, polyglot”), alternative form of πολύγλωσσος (polúglōssos), from πολύς (polús, “many”) + γλῶττα (glôtta, “tongue, language”). Compare Russian полигло́т (poliglót), Belarusian палігло́т (palihlót).
