Baltic cognates include Lithuanian mielas (“nice, deer, sweet”), Latvian mĩl̨š (“sweet, dear, kind”), Old Prussian mijls (“sweet, dear”).
Other Indo-European cognates include Latin mītis (“of soft taste”) and Greek meília.
