Borrowed from Ottoman Turkish قرنه (kurna), from Middle Armenian գուռն (guṙn), from Classical Syriac ܓܘܪܢܐ (gūrnā), perhaps from Akkadian 𒄖𒊒𒌦𒉡 (/gurunnu, garunnu/, “a small ritual jug, urn, or basin; possibly a mortar”).
