Cognate with Scots bake-hous (bakehouse, bakery), Saterland Frisian Bakhuus (bakehouse), West Frisian bakkhûs (bakehouse), Dutch bakhuis (bakehouse), German Low German Backhuus (bakehouse), German Backhaus (bakehouse, bakery).
