拨(撥) [bō] 动

1. ■ （用手、脚或棍棒等使东西移动或分开） move [stir] with hand, foot, stick, etc.; adjust with slight finger movement; poke; stir:

拨算盘 tick off beads on abacus; calculate on abacus;

拨台 tune in;

拨火 poke a fire;

拨电话号码 dial a telephone number;

拨到北京电台 tune in to Radio Beijing;

拨好闹钟 set the alarm clock

2. ■ （分发; 调配） allocate; assign; set aside:

拨粮拨款 allocate provisions and funds;

拨援兵 despatch relief troops;

拨两间房子给经理 set aside two rooms for the manager;
