Etymology
From Φᾱσῐᾱνός (Phāsiānós, “Phasian”) (with the implied substantive ὄρνις (órnis, “bird”)) from Φᾶσῐς (Phâsis, “Phasis”), from where, it was supposed, the bird spread to the west.
