单词 τύφη

τύφη

Ancient Greek

Etymology

Often regarded as cognate with Latin tuber (truffle), English tuft and Old Norse þúfa (mound), all from Proto-Indo-European *tewh₂- (to swell). However the meaning of the Greek word is sufficiently different to render its connection with the other words purely hypothetical.
