Etymology
Borrowed from Ottoman Turkish چای (çay) (Turkish çay), either from Russian чай (čaj, “tea”),[1][2] or from Persian چای (čāy)[3] from Sinitic, Chinese 茶 (chá). Compare to Katharevousa τέιον (téion) from French thé for the doublet τέιο (téio).
