单词 τρύγοιπος
释义

τρύγοιπος

Ancient Greek

Etymology

From τρύξ (trúx, must) and a second member from a verb meaning "to sieve". Frisk connects -οιπος with Proto-Germanic *sipōną (to drip, trickle), which is from Proto-Indo-European *seyb- (to pour, leak), but this is connected by LIV with εἴβω (eíbō, to let flow). Alternatively, one may derived -οιπος from Proto-Indo-European *seykʷ- (to filter), whence Proto-Germanic *sīhwaną (to filter). Yet see ἰκμάς (ikmás, moisture).
