τιβήν
Ancient Greek
Alternative forms
- τίβηνος (tíbēnos)
Etymology
Furnée connects θῖβις (thîbis, “basket”), which he derives from a Semitic source. He remarks that the suffix -ην points to Anatolian origin, which may perhaps indicate that the word is Pre-Greek.
